My work centres on estate planning and estate administration. These areas of law require the same attention and presence we bring to the people and things that matter most to us.

Estate law can make for great news: The contested estates, the family disputes, the unexpected disinheritances. On the planning side, my job is to help clients avoid all of that. On the administration side, my job is to help navigate deceased estates carefully and without added drama.

I was born in rural Alberta and raised in Sherwood Park. I am drawn to work that is deep-rooted and people-focused, which is something I discovered through my studies in business, education, and law.

In 2015, I articled at a reputable rural firm and was called to the Alberta Bar in 2016 (i.e. became a lawyer). Before opening my firm in 2023, I experienced a variety of legal settings, from a general legal practice in Leduc, to a boutique condo and litigation firm Downtown Edmonton, followed by a boutique wills and estates firm in Edmonton.

Along the way, I also became a mom. Parenthood reshaped my priorities. I wanted a practice grounded in meaningful, down-to-earth legal work where I could talk directly with the clients. That vision became Cairns Law.

I stay current in estate law by contributing to professional committees and focus groups. I am also pursuing my TEP designation through the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP Canada), a global network for professionals in inheritance and succession planning.

Outside of work, you'll find me biking around town, cheering on my kids from the stands, or coaching the chaos of Timbits soccer,  and occasionally in the audience at local musical theatre productions or the Sherwood Park Highland Gathering, where I'm happy to show up as a sponsor too.

Soaking in the pace of this everyday life.
