Estate questions answered simply

Some of the most common things I hear from clients are:
“I don’t know what the process is to get started.”
"We want to keep things simple.”
“We should have done this years ago.”
Let me say this clearly: you’re not alone. We are human, and we don’t often know the ins and outs of someone else’s profession or trade, and we don't often want to talk or think about our death while we're in the hustle of life. Estate planning, estate administration, and real estate law touch some of the most personal parts of our lives: family, home, finances, grief. Part of what makes it feel overwhelming is that the legal side of things just isn’t something most people deal with regularly.
That’s why I’m starting this blog. To share helpful, plain-language answers to questions I hear all the time, such as:
What happens if I die without a Will in Alberta?
Do we both need Wills if we’re a couple?
What does my lawyer actually do when I sell / buy my house?
If you have a question you'd like me to answer in a future post, you're welcome to reach out. You might just see it featured here.
Thanks for reading, and stay tuned for posts that make the law feel a little more human.
The next post is about planting trees. Sort of.
General information only. This isn’t legal advice and reading or responding to it doesn’t create a solicitor-client relationship.
