Our educator thank you promotion is a chatterbox

Over the Fall 2025, Cairns Law ran a special thank-you promotion for teachers and school staff. It was one way for us to recognize the huge role educators play in supporting our children, our schools and our communities.

Many educators reached out, asked questions and explored their options even when timing wasn’t ideal. November and early December were full with back to work orders, PT interviews and report cards, holiday planning, regular sicknesses, etc. The promotion was extended because we were left with a yuck feeling; the timing possibly added pressure to the people we aimed to help.

The formal and extended promotion periods have now ended. But here’s the TL;DR:

If you’re a teacher, EA, substitute, administrator or school professional with an active ATA membership and you’re still hoping to complete your estate plan in 2026, you are welcome to reach out to receive the 25% discount.

We've still got your back understanding that it's unlikely you're able to attend our meetings during the day. We offer daytime, evening and weekend appointments. Plus appointments over Summer Break.

Estate planning doesn’t always fit neatly into a short promotional window.

We get it.

And if this is you, you haven’t “missed your chance.”

Why we offered (and continue to honour) this gesture

Teachers are often the backbone of a family’s daily routine. They are also among the groups who tend to delay estate planning simply because they are stretched thin.

Offering a 'thank-you' aligns with the spirit of this firm: we're a small-batch, community-minded practice that values the people who shape our next generation.

If you missed the promotion window, here’s what you can do

If you are a qualifying educator and would still like to move forward to get a:

  • a Will (or Wills for you and your spouse);

  • an Enduring Power of Attorney (or EPAs for you and your spouse);

  • a Personal Directive (or PDs for you and your spouse)

  • or a full estate plan bundle (single's package gets 3 docs; double's package gets 6 docs);

you can contact us anytime in 2026 to discuss options.

We're happy to extend a gesture of appreciation for those who reach out late, forgot to book in or were simply overwhelmed.

How to reach out

You can:

Proof of an active Alberta Teachers' Association card held by either you or your spouse will be required.

Thank you to our educators

Whether you participated in the promotion or not, thank you for everything you do for our children and our community. Your work matters, and we're happy to support you where we can.

Not legal advice. Just a heartfelt message from Cairns Law to you.
